💔 Rescue Story
Zeus came into rescue because of an emergency call: a dog was dying. He had been poisoned. Volunteers rushed to help and intensive treatment saved his life, but the poisoning left permanent damage to his eyesight. Zeus lost around 80% of his vision.
His life was saved, but suddenly the young dog who had once been able to see normally had to learn to experience the world differently. And Zeus simply got on with it.
Today, if nobody told you about his sight, you might be surprised by how little it limits him.
🐾 More About Zeus
Zeus has spent some time in a foster home and is currently living in a shelter kennel. He is housetrained, walks beautifully on the lead and adapts remarkably well to different surroundings.
He has partial vision and navigates his environment extremely confidently. But what makes Zeus truly special isn’t how well he manages without full sight.
It is his personality. 💙
Zeus is an absolute cuddle bug who adores human company. He meets people happily and seems to consider almost every passer-by a potential new friend.
He particularly loves children. One of his sweetest habits is carrying toys over to them, clearly hoping they will understand the invitation and start playing.
He loves other dogs too and plays just like any other young dog.
And cats? Zeus doesn’t merely tolerate them — he loves them. He has a wonderfully nurturing side and loves fussing over kittens and puppies.
He is cheerful, playful and incredibly happy whenever someone is nearby.
🏡 Ideal Home
Please don’t be frightened by the words “partially blind dog.”
Dogs don’t look in the mirror and think they are different. They adapt through scent, hearing, memory and routine, and Zeus has already shown just how capable he is.
His future family will need to make some sensible adjustments and help him learn the layout of a new environment, but they certainly shouldn’t treat him as a fragile dog who cannot enjoy normal life.
Our rescue has successfully rehomed several blind dogs before, and none of them has ever been returned because of their blindness. We will happily provide Zeus’s family with practical guidance and support to help him settle.
He could live with another friendly dog and would love the companionship, although what matters most is having people around him. A home with kind children could be particularly lovely for this little boy.
💞 Zeus doesn’t need anyone to feel sorry for him. He needs someone to see the dog rather than the disability. A little boy who plays, cuddles, makes friends, carries toys to children, loves other animals and wakes up ready to enjoy another day.
Zeus may see only part of the world with his eyes. But he seems to see everything that really matters with his heart. 💙
