🐾 Ryzhik, also known as Zhik, is a 2-year-old small/lower-medium-sized ginger gent with a heart full of love. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who thrives on attention and cuddles but can be a bit anxious in new or unsafe environments. Arrived in UK 7 months ago and having already settled in the UK, Ryzhik is now looking for a new home, where someone is home most of the time, to prevent loneliness.

❤️ Rescue Story
Ryzhik was rescued from the chaos and danger of the full-scale cruel war in Ukraine, where he faced hardship but survived with a trusting heart. Since arriving safely in the UK, he has had a loving home, but due to his family’s changing circumstances and long working hours, Ryzhik now needs a new, more suitable home.
This is what his family says: “Due to work commitments and hours that I work, it is not fair for him to be left at home for that amount of time. Whilst I do have a dog walker, I just feel that it is not enough for him and feel that he isn’t getting the level of interaction that he needs.”

This is what his family says about him:
“I’m very sad, I just don’t think I’m able to provide him with what he needs. I think someone else would be able to give him a better life, which he deserves.
He is an extremely loving little boy and loves lots of attention and cuddles. Very playful and loves to chase his toys in the garden. He can be a little bit mischievous off the lead when walking and can wander off, so maybe he needs further recall training. He loves eating meat! Won’t touch fruit or vegetables.
He struggles in environments where he feels unsafe, he becomes anxious and can become reactive. So I think further help with this anxiety would be good. When walking, some smaller dogs he doesn’t like and will growl when they come near. I’ve had to pull him away from dogs a few time because he has reacted with them.
I think he needs to be with someone who is at home most of time, and becomes lonely being in his own. He loves playing with my friends dog who is a Labrador, so think he gets on better with bigger dogs. Maybe having this company at home would be better also.”

He would flourish with someone who is home more often, offering companionship and support. A household with a bigger female dog friend would be beneficial, and a calm, stable environment will help him thrive.
