💔 Rescue Story

Ronnie came to rescue from Zaporizhzhia — a frontline city where everyday life continues under the threat of missiles, drones and bombs.

When homes are damaged, families flee and people’s lives are suddenly turned upside down, animals become victims of war too. Pets can lose their homes and families overnight, while rescuers work under incredibly difficult circumstances to get as many as possible to safety.

We don’t know exactly what happened to Ronnie before he was rescued. What we do know is that he made it safely away from Zaporizhzhia and is now waiting in a private shelter in western Ukraine.

And having met him myself, I really hope his wait won’t be much longer.

🐾 More About Ronnie

I had the great pleasure of meeting this awesome little wire-haired boy when I visited his shelter in Ukraine this summer.

Aww… Ronnie. 💙 If I only had a little more space at home and fewer dogs of my own, I would dearly have taken him myself.

It is genuinely difficult to imagine a much easier little dog. Ronnie meets people with the confidence and warmth of an old friend. There is no complicated introduction required — adults, children, other dogs… he seems perfectly happy to make friends with everyone.

Want to put his harness on? Fine.
Want him to walk with you on the lead? Absolutely.
Want a cuddle? Ronnie is very happy with that arrangement too. 😁

He is affectionate and loves being close, but there is a lovely calm confidence about him. He isn’t frantic for attention or overwhelming. He simply seems comfortable with people and delighted to be included.

Ronnie is also very friendly with other dogs and loves playing with them without being a whirlwind.

He is one of those dogs who genuinely tries to get everything right and seems very pleased when he knows his humans are happy with him.

🏡 Ideal Home

Ronnie could fit beautifully into many different families, including people who may not have years of dog experience.

He could live with another friendly dog and would thoroughly enjoy having a playmate, but his confidence and strong connection with people mean he could potentially be equally happy as the only dog.

He would also be lovely with dog-savvy children aged 8+ whose energy matches his friendly, easy-going nature.

Ronnie doesn’t need a particularly specialised home. He needs normal family life — walks, games, affection, companionship and people who want their dog to be part of what they do.

💞 Having met Ronnie myself, I can say that he is even more charming in real life than any description can show. Small, funny-looking in the most adorable wire-haired way, beautifully mannered and completely open-hearted with people — he has that rare quality of making you feel as though you’ve known him much longer than a few minutes.
Some family is going to be incredibly lucky to call Ronnie theirs. I just hope they find him soon. 💙
