Rocket is a 4½-year-old male Labrador Retriever with a heart as big as his waggy tail. One of three Labradors (Rocket, Willow, and Raven) needing new homes due to their family’s ill health, Rocket has now gone into foster care and is showing himself to be a truly wonderful boy.

💔 Rescue Story 💔
Rocket has lived with his family since he was a pup. Sadly, worsening health and a move to a smaller house with no space for three big Labradors means the family had to make the heartbreaking decision to let them go. Rocket is now in foster, safe and loved, but he urgently needs a forever family of his own.

“Rocket has been an absolute delight to foster. He’s incredibly affectionate, loving, and playful – a true gentle giant. He settled quickly with us (we have no other pets, which we think helped) and has been perfect in the house – fully housetrained, not a single accident.

He adores our two children (aged 4 and 9) and has greeted all visitors happily and affectionately. His house manners are immaculate – honestly, probably better than any dog we’ve had before. He has a funny quirk of carrying shoes or blankets around in his mouth, but never destroys them – he just likes to hold them.

Rocket is a big, strong lad, especially when he sees another dog or a river. He absolutely loves water and gets very excited to get to it, so he does need someone physically strong to hold him on the lead. With other dogs he cries or barks in excitement, pulls to say hello, then greets them beautifully – tail wagging and calm once introductions are made.

He’s super smart too – he knows “walk”, “park”, and “treat” instantly. He even brings us his grooming glove when he wants a brush! He loves training with treats and we’re sure he’d enjoy learning even more.

Rocket travels well – he hopped into the boot and lay quietly for a 1½ hour car journey. He’s truly a wonderful dog and we guarantee that anyone who meets him will instantly fall in love.”
