Ozhyna — her name means “blackberry” in Ukrainian — is a 2-year-old lower-medium (below the knee) girl, a sweet little berry indeed: affectionate, playful, clever and full of love. She is the sort of dog who quickly finds her place beside you, invites you to play and then happily comes back for cuddles. ❤️

💔 Rescue Story

Ozhyna once had a family and knew what it was like to live inside a home. Then her owner moved abroad. Instead of making sure Ozhyna would be safe and cared for, the owner’s brother drove her away and threw her out of the car near a car wash.

And Ozhyna was pregnant.

Suddenly, a dog who had known family life found herself abandoned outside, carrying puppies and completely dependent on strangers for help. Thankfully, she was rescued before anything happened to her. Ozhyna later gave birth to two beautiful puppies, both of whom have since been successfully adopted by families in Ukraine.

Her babies have their homes. Now it is their mum’s turn. ❤️

🐾 More About Ozhyna

Because Ozhyna was previously a family dog, home life is familiar to her. She currently lives indoors and walks nicely on the lead.

She doesn’t spend long wondering whether she should make friends with someone — she comes straight over and attaches herself to you. Ozhyna is very loving and wonderfully cuddly. She loves affection, loves hugs and has perfected the art of charming people when she wants a little extra attention. 🤭

But she’s certainly not a little sofa ornament. Ozhyna is playful and often the one who starts the fun. She loves engaging other dogs in games and thoroughly enjoys canine company.

She is active and enthusiastic, but is also obedient. She listens well and has a lovely ability to enjoy herself without becoming difficult to manage.

She also walks beautifully off lead in her current environment and clearly enjoys being out exploring with her people.

She is friendly with dog savvy children and enjoys their company, although because she can jump up when excited, we feel children aged 7+ would be the best match.

🏡 Ideal Home

Ozhyna could adapt to many different family situations, but the best one is a house with a secure private garden in a peaceful environment. Another friendly, playful dog would be a lovely bonus because she genuinely enjoys canine companionship.

More important is having people who want a dog to be part of their everyday life — walks, games, cuddles, adventures and plenty of affection.

She has that wonderful personality that seems able to find a little patch of sunshine wherever life puts her. After everything that happened, she hasn’t become bitter or withdrawn. She still loves people, still wants to play and still approaches life with an open heart.

💞 Ozhyna has already watched her two little puppies find families of their own. Now this sweet Ukrainian “blackberry” deserves something for herself — a home where nobody will ever put her in a car just to leave her behind again. This time, every car journey should lead to an adventure. And every journey home should end at her own front door. ❤️
