Kai 💙 and Gerda ❤️ are in the UK and are settling beautifully into foster care.

And honestly? They are doing even better than we dared to hope. After leaving everything familiar behind, travelling across Europe and arriving in a completely new country, they have taken every change in their stride. With every passing day they are becoming more confident, more relaxed and showing more of their wonderful personalities.

Kai and Gerda are a bonded pair of 2-year-old LOWER-MEDIUM DOGS, deeply connected to each other and wonderfully gentle with people.

They truly remind us of the fairy tale characters they are named after — loyal companions who have been through difficult times together and emerged with their kindness intact.

💔 Rescue Story

Kai and Gerda were abandoned together in a small rural town in Western Ukraine, an area sadly known for cruelty towards animals.

There were originally three dogs. A young white boy with beautiful blue eyes did not survive. Kai lost an eye.

But Kai and Gerda stayed together through everything. Despite what they experienced, neither lost their trust in people.

🐾 More About Them

Their foster describes them as incredibly manageable, affectionate and easy to live with. They enjoy exploring the garden, playing together, snoozing in the sunshine and simply being close to their people.

Like many rescue dogs, they can initially be a little cautious when faced with something unfamiliar, but once they realise they are safe, their lovely personalities quickly shine through.

They are beautifully well-balanced dogs who do not create chaos or demand constant attention. Instead, they quietly fit into family life and bring a calm, comforting presence wherever they go.

One thing everyone notices immediately is just how beautiful they are. Their unique eyes, expressive faces and gentle expressions make them truly special. Foster says photographs don’t do them justice — they are even more stunning in real life.

Most importantly, they share an extraordinary bond. They look to each other for comfort, confidence and reassurance. Having survived so much together, they genuinely make each other happier and stronger.

Kai and Gerda are looking for a home together.  They will settle faster together, gain confidence from one another and continue enjoying the companionship they have always known.

They would love a calm, loving home with a secure garden, people who enjoy gentle companionship and a family who will appreciate what wonderful dogs they truly are.

🩺 Health Information

Both are fully healthy, neutered/spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
Kai lost one eye due to past trauma, but this does not affect his quality of life in any way.
All dogs are C.Brucella tested before travel (licensed laboratory certificate provided).
