UK Surrender (LE65, Leicestershire):HARTLEY-6-year-old upper-medium mixed-breed boy – Reduced Fees

💙🐶 HARTLEY – HIS FAMILY’S LIFE HAS CHANGED, BUT HIS HEART HASN’T 🐶💙

🇬🇧🐾 BACK TO RESCUE 🐾🇬🇧

💔 Sometimes even a happy adoption story takes an unexpected turn. Hartley was adopted from our rescue around 18 months ago, and his family have done a wonderful job helping him grow into a much more confident, happy and settled dog. Unfortunately, his owners have now separated, and the change in circumstances means Hartley would regularly be left alone for 8+ hours a day — something his owner knows would be too much for him. His owner is heartbroken. He loves Hartley dearly and is incredibly proud of how far he has come.

🐾 Meet Hartley

💔 Rescue Story
Hartley found his home through Paws Help around 1,5 year ago. Since then, he has been loved, cared for and supported through his fears and insecurities. His return to rescue is not because he has done anything wrong, but because his family’s circumstances have changed and his owner wants to make the kindest decision for his future.

🐾 More About Hartley
His owner describes him as a fantastic, sweet and intelligent dog who can initially be shy or fearful, particularly around unfamiliar men. Women generally earn his trust more quickly, but with gentle introductions and kindness, he gradually relaxes and shows his affectionate, loving personality.

His progress on walks has been remarkable! Previously more reactive, Hartley now rarely reacts to people or other dogs. He is walked with a loose-fitting muzzle as a precaution, and his owner has worked hard to help him feel more comfortable in the world.

He loves durable chew toys, enjoys his familiar routines and is fully housetrained. He is also apparently not a fan of rain or strong winds — some adventures are simply better enjoyed from a warm sofa! 😄

🏡 Ideal Home

Hartley’s most important requirement is human companionship. He does experience separation anxiety, although with his current family he has learnt to manage regular absences of around an hour and occasionally up to 3 hours once settled.

His ideal home would be with someone who works from home, is retired, or where family members have different working schedules, so he isn’t regularly left alone for long periods.
He needs kind, understanding people who will continue building his confidence, respect his initial caution around strangers and give him time to settle. A house with a garden would be lovely. He could potentially live with a compatible dog following careful introductions, or be a much-loved only dog.

💞 Hartley has already shown what love, commitment and understanding can achieve. His owner has given him 18 wonderful months, and now hopes someone else can offer him the same love and stability for the rest of his life.

🩺 Health Information
Hartley is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. No known medical conditions have been reported.
