Dexter remains in his current foster home, where he has truly settled and shown what a lovely, affectionate and intelligent dog he is.

After time and careful observation, it has become clear that the situation in the home is not the right match for him due to the resident dog struggling to share space. Despite everyone’s best efforts, this environment is not allowing Dexter to fully relax long-term.
Dexter is safe, cared for and doing well, but now needs a home to call his own where he can truly thrive without ongoing tension.

🐶 Dexter is an 8.5-year-old Spitz cross boy, small-medium in size, with a big personality and a deeply loving nature. He is incredibly people-oriented, forming strong bonds and showing real loyalty to those he trusts.

💔 Background / Surrender Story
Dexter originally came into rescue due to his owner’s declining health. He later went into a home with another dog, but despite a positive start, it became clear over time that the dynamic was not right for him.

His current foster has worked hard with him and helped him grow in confidence and behaviour, but the presence of a dog who struggles to share means this is not a sustainable long-term environment for Dexter.

Dexter is described as a very loving, warm and beautiful soul. He has settled beautifully in foster and has made great progress with his behaviour and confidence.

He is a clever, quick-learning dog who responds well to guidance and enjoys engaging with his people. He loves affection, playtime and being close to those he trusts.

Dexter is very food motivated and has shown some guarding tendencies around food with other dogs, but this has improved significantly with consistent, calm management. He does not show these behaviours with people and remains affectionate and connected even in moments of stress.

He enjoys his walks and has good stamina, happily joining multiple outings a day. Like many dogs, he can be vocal at times, particularly around other dogs, but this is manageable with the right handling.

Dexter would suit a calm, understanding home that can continue supporting his training and provide consistency. He could live as an only dog, or potentially with a calm, relaxed and non-competitive dog who is comfortable sharing space without pressure. He would benefit from a home with experience, where his intelligence and sensitivity are understood, and where he can continue to build on the progress he has already made.
