❤️🐶 BLACKY – A PLAYMATE, A CUDDLE BUDDY AND A LITTLE COMEDIAN 🐶❤️

Blacky is a 1-year-old small Dachshund cross girl, cheerful, playful and wonderfully sociable. She loves canine company, especially a good game with bigger dogs, and has a funny habit of gathering all the available toys around herself and happily share them again when her friends want to join in. ❤️

She is a happy young girl who loves having something happening around her: people to love, dogs to play with, toys to collect and, apparently, pigeons to chase away. 🤦‍♀️😄

💔 Rescue Story

Blacky was brought to safety from Zaporizhzhia, one of the Ukrainian regions deeply affected by the war. She had been left behind when people fled.

We don’t know all the circumstances. What we do know is that Blacky suddenly found herself without the people and home she had once known.

She was eventually rescued and brought west to safety. Now she is waiting for the chance to belong to someone again — this time for good.

🐾 More About Blacky

Blacky currently lives in a multi-dog foster home in a Ukrainian village. She sleeps indoors in a separate little house together with other dogs, is clean in her living space and toilets outside.

Her lead walking is still a work in progress, but she is already doing well and simply needs normal continued practice.

Blacky is very sociable and affectionate, although there is one little piece of her past that still seems to stay with her.

She is more immediately trusting of women. For reasons we don’t know, she is uncomfortable around men and will bark at them. She may approach, sniff and even take a treat, then step back and bark again. There is no aggression — it appears to be uncertainty and her way of keeping a comfortable distance.

For this reason, Blacky’s ideal home would be a female household. Her confidence around men may improve with time and positive experiences, but she should be accepted and loved exactly as she is now. ❤️

With dogs, however, Blacky has very few reservations at all. 😁She loves canine company and thoroughly enjoys playing. Interestingly for such a small girl, she particularly likes joining in with bigger dogs and seems perfectly happy surrounded by friends considerably taller than herself.

Another friendly dog in her future home would therefore be a big plus for Blacky.

Blacky likes to gather the toys around herself as though she is responsible for keeping inventory. But she isn’t possessive about her treasures — when another dog wants to play, she shares.

She is lively, playful and ready for fun without being an unstoppable whirlwind.

Cats don’t particularly interest her. Chickens, however, are definitely not on Blacky’s friendship list. And pigeons apparently require immediate eviction whenever spotted. 🤦‍♀️

🏡 Ideal Home

Blacky would thrive with people who enjoy a cheerful, playful young dog and are happy to continue building her confidence.

A friendly resident dog would be a lovely match. She connects easily with other animals and genuinely enjoys having canine friends around her, so a playful companion could also help her settle into her new life.

Because she is initially less comfortable with unfamiliar men, Blacky’s ideal home would be a female household. Or any men in the household need to understand that friendship shouldn’t be forced. She saw men just randomly in her past. Give Blacky the opportunity to observe, discover that she is safe and build that relationship naturally.

She has so much affection and sociability already there — she simply needs a little understanding around that one uncertainty.

A chicken-free home would also be rather sensible. The local pigeons will have to make their own arrangements. 😄

💞 Blacky has already lost one home to war, but she hasn’t lost her enthusiasm for life.
She still wants to play. She still wants to make friends. And she still finds plenty of reasons to enjoy every day. Now we’d love her to have a family, a home and perhaps a canine best friend to share all those toys with. ❤️

Blacky is fully healthy, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. All dogs are C.Brucella tested before travel (approved laboratory certificate provided).
