💔 Rescue Story

Lissa and her new born puppies was evacuated from a war zone last winter. When she reached safety, she was terribly thin.

We don’t know all the details of what happened to Lissa before her evacuation, and we won’t invent the missing pieces of her story. But somewhere between war, displacement and survival, this beautiful girl lost the ordinary life every dog deserves.

She is safe now — but safety alone isn’t enough. Lissa is a dog who visibly needs a person of her own. Life in rescue may protect her from the dangers she escaped, but she is fading emotionally there. She needs companionship, attention, proper walks and the simple feeling that she belongs to somebody again.

🐾 More About Lissa

Lissa is one of those dogs whose intelligence immediately stands out. Her foster describes her as extraordinarily clever, “like a best shepherd example” — she seems to understand everything from half a glance. You don’t need endless repetition to communicate with her; she watches her person closely and wants to understand.

She is wonderfully calm and balanced indoors.

Lissa loves human company but isn’t intrusive. She won’t constantly demand attention or climb all over you. Instead, she is simply there — nearby, sharing your space and enjoying being part of whatever ordinary life is happening around her.

She loves going for walks and behaves nicely on the lead. Sadly, she doesn’t currently get nearly as many walks as she would love.

With other dogs, Lissa is very friendly but generally calm. She can occasionally enjoy a game, although she isn’t a dog who needs constant canine entertainment. She isn’t particularly fond of small dogs repeatedly pestering her, so any resident dog should be not pushy and nit noisy.

She is also good with cats and wonderful with people.

🏡 Ideal Home

Lissa doesn’t need a complicated home. What she needs most is a person.

She would suit someone looking for a genuine companion rather than an endlessly busy dog — someone who enjoys good walks but also values having a calm, intelligent dog peacefully sharing the home afterwards.

She could live with a friendly, respectful dog, but another dog isn’t essential for her happiness. Human companionship matters much more.

She could also live with a dog-savvy cat and with sensible older children aged 8+.

Most importantly, Lissa deserves a home where she will be included in everyday life. She has so much intelligence, loyalty and quiet affection to give, and shelter life simply cannot provide the connection she needs.

💞 There are dogs who demand your attention. And then there are dogs like Lissa, who quietly earn a place beside you until one day you realise you can’t imagine the room without them. ❤️

She wants walks, companionship, a comfortable place to rest and somebody whose face she can learn so well that words become almost unnecessary. Lissa already knows how to be someone’s dog. She is simply waiting to have someone again. ❤️
