💙🐶 TEDDY – Bright, Loving Boy Who Needs a Second Chance 🐶💙
Teddy was supposed to be collected by a family who had applied for him, been fully vetted, and passed their home check. But just two hours before the agreed collection time, they let us know that they had decided they weren’t ready to adopt at this moment.
So here is Teddy again — a three-year-old, small-to-medium Maltichon (Maltese × Bichon Frise), a soft, fluffy, intelligent boy with a heart full of love — and anxiety that he can’t manage alone. His current owner, who has him since he was a 12-week-old pup, can no longer meet his needs due to own health issues and Teddy’s separation anxiety.
✨ Highlights ✨
• SIZE: Upper-small (approx. 8-9 kg – compact, fluffy build)
• NEUTERED: Yes, recently
• CHARACTER HIGHLIGHTS: Intelligent • Affectionate • Energetic • Wary of strangers
• DOGS: Lives with another small dog – friendly, no guarding
• CATS: Curious, playful interest – no aggression
• CHILDREN: Best with older children, who can play with him (can be too jumpy for little ones)
💔 Rescue Story & Current Situation 💔
Teddy’s owner described how deeply she loves him — but how her life has become confined because of his panic when left alone. Teddy lives in a flat and when even short absences cause barking, it leads to neighbour complaints and worsening stress for both. He’s a highly intelligent, sensitive boy whose anxiety caused with luck of physical and mental stimulation due to owner’s health issues and flat living environment.
Teddy’s owner said it best:
“He’s the most loving, clever dog — he just needs someone who has time, patience, and energy for him. He deserves to be happy.”
He’s healthy, clever, and loves learning tricks. He thrives with people he knows, loves walks, toys, and games, and bonds deeply with his trusted humans. But he can’t cope with isolation yet — he’ll need patience, routine, and gentle separation training to help him feel secure (rescue is happy to provide training guidance).
🐾 More Details 🐾
Teddy is around 8-9 kg, compact and fluffy, upper-small in size. He lives in a flat with a small patio and sleeps in a crate in the bedroom. He is house-trained, though pulls and sometimes barks on lead out of excitement, especially at people, dogs, or vehicles. Teddy lives with another small dog and is friendly. He shows curious, playful interest in cats and has been gentle around them.
He loves attention and thrives on human companionship, so a home where someone is present most of the time at least during the first few months would suit him best. He will need an active home with a garden where he can play and release energy. His diet consists of Pooch & Mutts Salmon Digestion food.
We’re happy to provide expert separation training materials and behavioural support to help him succeed. Those who’ve had small intelligent breeds like Bichons or Maltese will understand his quirky, emotional nature.
🩺 Health Information 🩺
