❤️🐶 CARMEN – A Sensitive Girl Who Needs a Quiet, Understanding World 🐶❤️

🏠 LOOKING FOR URGENT FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT
📍 Stoke-on-Trent, ST4

💕 Carmen is a -lower-medium sized 3-4 years old girl with a tender heart and a deeply sensitive nature. She arrived in UK in early November, but was asked to be rehomed due to no possibility to meet her needs. She has now spent over three weeks in a UK foster home, and while she is loved and cared for, it has become clear that the environment around her is simply too busy and overwhelming. Carmen requires calm, quiet surroundings and patient people who will allow her to settle at her own pace.

✨ Highlights
• SIZE: Lower-medium (approx. 45 cm / 16 kg, below the knee)
• SPAYED: Yes
• CHARACTER HIGHLIGHTS: Gentle • Sensitive • Quiet • Loyal • Affectionate once settled
• DOGS: Does not react to dogs on walks; would benefit from a calm, confident canine companion
• CATS: Not tested
• CHILDREN: Child-free home essential

💔 Rescue Story / Background
Carmen’s life was once stable and loved — until war changed everything. When her family fled abroad, she was left behind with an elderly grandmother who could no longer manage a young dog. Soon after, Carmen was seen wandering near rubbish bins, searching for the people she had lost.

Volunteers recognised her and brought her into rescue. She slowly rebuilt trust, learned routine again, and eventually travelled to the UK with hope for a fresh start. Sadly, her current foster home is located near a road and a school, with regular traffic and children passing by — and for a sensitive soul like Carmen, this has proven too much.

🐾 More About Carmen (Updated Foster Feedback)
Carmen is a very quiet, non-reactive dog. She does not bark or growl at passers-by, dogs, or noise. She is affectionate, gentle, and forms a particularly strong bond with men — she has clearly attached herself to the male foster and looks to him for reassurance and safety.

She is very skittish in general and easily startled, especially by loud vehicles and daytime activity. Traffic noise frightens her, and she struggles to walk during the day unless it is very quiet or both foster carers are with her. At night or early morning, when the world is calm, she walks much more comfortably and confidently. She appears to prefer darkness, where she feels hidden and safe.

Carmen is terrified of young children, even when they are far away across the street. She does not bark or lunge — she freezes, cowers, and tries to retreat. Because of this, a child-free home is essential.

Indoors, Carmen is clean, settled and polite. She will indicate when she needs to go outside, eats well, and shows no food guarding. She enjoys reassurance on walks and actively seeks comfort from her trusted person. With encouragement and calm handling, she shows small but meaningful progress.

Despite being fed and cared for by the female foster, Carmen strongly prefers male company and will often choose to remove herself rather than engage.

She has not reacted negatively to dogs passing by and has shown that another calm, confident, friendly dog could greatly help her build confidence. She enjoys quiet fields and does well on a long line away from roads. Her recall is already promising when she feels safe.

🏡 Ideal Family
Carmen needs a quiet, semi-rural or rural home, ideally on a peaceful street with minimal traffic and easy access to fields or countryside. She would greatly benefit from living with a calm, friendly, non-pushy dog, ideally an older medium-sized companion who can show her that the world is safe.

She needs people who will give her time to settle — without pressure, expectations, or busy social environments. Carmen is not for town, school runs, or constant noise. She is for someone who understands sensitive dogs and values gentle progress over speed.

🩺 Health Information
Carmen is fully healthy, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. All dogs are C.Brucella tested before travel (licensed laboratory certificate provided).

💞 Carmen is not a “problem dog”. She is a quiet survivor, still learning how the UK feels, sounds and moves. With the right environment, she will blossom into a loyal, deeply bonded companion.
She doesn’t need fixing. She needs the right place to feel safe.
